At last I implemented new feature that I planned to do long time ago - picture upload. It is now possible to upload pictures to all pages that have the 'Add Comment' link. Adding a picture is very similar to adding comments - you enter picture filename into the 'Picture' field, or use a 'Browse' button to locate a picture on your hard drive, enter your name or nickname, optionally specify subject and/or comment, and save the data. Your picture will be added to a page as soon as a moderator approves it. Because the uploaded picture takes more space on our system and uses more bandwidth than comments, the moderator may scale the picture down, and/or trim parts of the picture.

"Identify Part" tool now recognizes some HP, DEC and IBM part numbers, many Opteron and Athlon model numbers, and Geode order numbers. All this information was previously available on different pages of CPU-World.com, I only modified identification tool to use it.

Dec 26

Informational section of the site now has two new pages - DEC part numbers and IBM part numbers.

Dec 23

I added 5 Texas Instruments 80386 upgrade processors to 80386 CPU family. I don't have information for these microprocessors, so if anybody has their datasheet please contact me.

Dec 15

I added links to two new collector's sites: "CPU Collection" and "United Processors".

Dec 4

I've made a mistake in Opteron identification table yesterday, and as a result the "Identify part" tool couldn't identify Opteron processors. I fixed it. I also added identification of boxed Sempron and Athlon 64 processors.

Dec 3

Many minor updates: new design of CPU Sockets pages, added comments to about 50 CPU families and to Socket pages, updated Opteron identification.

All S-Spec pages now have a new feature - it is possible to add comments or notes to any S-Spec page. I was working on this feature for long time, and now it's finished. Adding comments is simple - you enter the comment and your name (or nickname) and submit the data. After that a moderator will review the comment, and either accept it or reject it. This is a necessary step required to block spam and unrelated comments. The comments are added to S-spec pages as soon as moderator accepts them. I'm planning to add the same feature to all CPU pages, and in a week or two I'm going to modify the feature to allow visitors to upload pictures.

Nov 21

New family was added to AMD K7 pages - this time it's Athlon MP CPU family. One of the processors is very unusual. It's an engineering sample of Athlon MP running at 200 MHz FSB (100 MHz DDR). All production Athlon MP processors run at 266 MHz FSB (133 MHz DDR).

Not much new stuff was added to the site this week as I spent most of my time updating design of different pages. So far I updated CPU architecture pages, BSP/CPU/FPU/MCU index pages and a few other pages.

Nov 17

I added 4 Mobile Duron engineering samples to K7 CPU family:

If you ever visited CPU-World.com before you'll notice the first page now looks a bit different. As I don't have much time to do complete site re-design I decided to leave page layout, images and some buttons the the same, and only refresh the look. For the same reason (lack of time) I updated only the front page. I hope to update all pages before the New Year.

Nov 10

I enhanced chip identification tool to return more information about AMD stepping codes. For almost all steppings it will display associated AMD processor families. For some steppings the tool will also show processors features like SSE3 or x86-64.

Oct 19

I changed pages with Socket 423 Pentium 4 processors to use part numbers instead of processor markings. I updated Pentium 4 S-Spec pages too. Processors markings are now specified in "Notes" part on processors pages, and as a separate item on S-spec pages. This update may break some internal links - I'll fix this later.

I slightly improved chip identification tool - it will now recognize AMD K7/K8 stepping and date code information. This information is usually displayed below AMD part number and looks like this: AIUGA0235MPMW. I have only limited stepping information right now, more will be added after I finish testing my Athlon/Duron processors.
