Dec 31
Happy New Year to all visitors! I'm back from vacation. Unfortunately, I've got a flu right after the vacation, and couldn't do planned updates before the New Year. Speaking about planned site updates... Next year I'll continue to add more microprocessor and microcontroller families, add more benchmarks and more information about different aspects of microprocessing. There will be a few new site sections added next year - CPU packages, additional types of charts (power consumption, price, etc). It will be possible to upload your own CPU info, CPU benchmarks and overclocking results. Next year the site updates will be less often because part of my time will be spent on my side project - CPU support database (www.CPU-Upgrade.com), as well as on another project (not CPU-related).

Dec 20
I'm leaving for vacation for one week. I won't have access to internet, so while I'm gone there won't be any site updates, I won't be able to approve comments and S-Spec number submissions, and respond to e-mails. I didn't have time to respond to upgrade questions in comments posted in the last two days - I would recommend to those posters to repost the questions in the forum.

Dec 18
On the front page in the "Quick Links" section we have pull-down menu that can be used to quickly find family pages by selecting a manufacturer and then a family. Today this menu was impoved. You can now use "Family" choice to reverse the order of page selection. When the "Family" radio button is checked, you can now select the family first and then the manufacturer. Another minor enhancement to the menu was inclusion of extra pages. You can now select Athlon, Duron, different versions of Pentium III and Celerons - before these pages were missing from the menu.

Dec 17
I created two new pages: timetable of AMD K7 stepping codes and timetable of K8 stepping codes. I doubt these pages will be useful to many people, but it was fun working on them.

Dec 16
Beside my large collection of microprocessors, I also have a small collection of microprocessor and co-processor related key chains. Today I put a page with Intel 80386/80387 key chains that I have in my collection.

Dec 13
I added pictures of 5 new Pentium_4 CPUs. I didn't spend much time updating Intel families in the past few months. I hope that starting from this update I'll be able to work more time on modern and vintage Intel processor families.

Intel
Pentium 4 2.26 GHz

Intel Pentium 4 2.2 GHz - RK80532PC049512 (BX80532PC2200D)
Intel Pentium 4 2.26 GHz - RK80532PE051512 (BX80532PE2266D)
Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz - RK80532PE056512 (BX80532PE2400D)
Intel Pentium 4 2.53 GHz - RK80532PE061512 (BX80532PE2533D)
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz - RK80532PG072512 (BX80532PG2800D)

Dec 10
Two new CPU charts were added today: Athlon chart and Mobile Duron microprocessors.

Dec 7
Two pages were updated: Athlon and Sempron model numbers, and Opteron model numbers.

Dec 4
The S-Spec database was updated with all recently submitted S-Spec numbers. Thanks to Karsten Reichert, viili, g0b and other people who submitted S-Spec numbers.

Dec 1
As you may already know AMD yesterday released three new Athlon 64 FX microprocessors. Information on these processors was added to Athlon 64 FX family. I also updated Athlon 64 FX CPU chart and identification of Athlon 64 FX and Sempron processors.

Nov 25
After receiving many CPU upgrade questions and answering half of them, I decided that much better use of my spare time would be to build a database with cpu upgrade information and let people search it, rather than searching myself for this data. After two months of work I can finally present CPU support database (the first draft). Because the upgrade database is not about processors I put it under separate domain - CPU-Upgrade.com. CPU-Upgade.com is more of a side project for me, so it'll be updated less often than CPU-World.com.

Nov 23
I added three new CPU charts: Mobile Athlon 4 CPUs, Athlon MP CPUs and Athlon XP-M microprocessors.

Nov 19
AMD K8 Sempron page now has information on socket 939 and socket AM2 Semprons. These Sempron processors were also added to K8 Sempron CPU chart.

Nov 17
I wanted to ask visitors who's looking for CPU upgrade or troubleshooting advice not to post their questions in comments. These questions are usually specific to motherboards, other hardware or software, and are not related to microprocessors. It'd be nice if CPU pages had only relevant information. For this reason all questions and unrelated comments will be rejected. If you have questions please post them in the forum. Speaking about rejecting... I've made a change so that CPU pages will now show if any comments were rejected, and provide a link to a page with rejection reason.

Nov 15
New page added: Athlon 64 X2 CPU chart.

Nov 12
Information on Athlon 64 X2 microprocessors is now online.

Nov 11
I updated design of all "News" and "Links" pages. Now they look similar to many other pages on the site, and their size is at least 25% smaller than before.

Nov 10

Two CPU comparison charts are online: Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessors and Mobile Semprons.

Nov 5

Navigation menu was replaced all S-spec pages. I used this opportunity to add some missing S-Spec numbers. I also compared CPU-World's S-Spec database with Intel's processorfinder database, and found that starting from this update our database includes all S-Spec numbers from processorfinder. Still, I highly recommend processorfinder to everybody, and, even if you found an s-spec number on our site, it's worth to check processorfinder too because it may have additional information.

Nov 4

As you can see, navigation menu at the top of the page was changed. All images in the menu were replaced with text, which should make pages load a bit faster, and in my opinion looks better. Right now about 20% - 25% site's pages have new menu. Eventually all pages will be updated.

Nov 3

More CPU comparison charts are online: Athlon 64 processors and Athlon FX microprocessors.

Oct 29

Two more CPU comparison charts are online: AMD Duron processors and AMD Sempron microprocessors.

Oct 27

Intel 80960 comparison table is online.

Oct 25

10 new microprocessors were added to Intel 80960 CPU family. I updated information on some CPUs from that family, and will probably do other minor updates to i960 pages in the next few days.

Intel
GC80960RP3V33

Intel A80960CA-33 (A80960CA33)
Intel A80960KA-20
Intel A80960KB-20
Intel FC80960HT75
Intel NG80960JF33
Intel NG80960JS25
Intel SB80962JY25
Intel GC80960RP3V33
Intel N80960SA10
Intel N80960SB16

Oct 21

All submitted S-Spec numbers, plus more than 70 other pre-production s-spec numbers were added to S-Spec database. Thanks to everybody who submitted the specification numbers!

Oct 20

New page added: comparison chart of Athlon XP microprocessors.

Oct 18

You can now use this page to submit new AMD stepping codes. All submissions are moderated. All recently submitted codes can be found on the AMD stepping codes submissions page.

Oct 15

I created new page: AMD K8 Sempron processor chart. I'm planning to create similar lists for all other modern microprocessors. Because data on different processors on the site is broken into individual pages, it's not easy to compare different CPUs, even if they belong to the same family. I hope that lists similar to the one I just created will help with that.

Oct 14

I updated pages with AMD K7 and K8 stepping codes. AMD package types page and identification of AMD stepping codes was updated too.

Oct 11

AMD K8 CPU page was updated with information on Athlon FX microprocessors. You won't see any pictures there because I don't have any Athlon 64 FX processors in my possession. You're welcome to upload pictures of your own Athlon 64 FX processors though :)

Oct 9

I added two new microprocessors to Intel 4040 microprocessor family. There are twice as many chip pictures in that family now :)

Intel
C4040

Intel C4040
Intel D4040 (Black top) (Look under "More pictures")

Oct 4

Dual-core Xeons were added to Intel Xeon s-spec pages. I also added all previously submitted s-spec numbers to the s-spec database. I almost catched up with the latest Intel updates of s-spec numbers, which is good because I can concentrate now on putting more data on existing s-spec pages. Next s-spec update will be in about two weeks.

Oct 1

William Blair, who already provided many CPU/FPU/chip die pictures to CPU-World, sent me new batch of die pictures. You will find new pictures on the following pages: RCA 1802, Intel 80286, Intel 80387, Intel 80486, Motorola 680x and Motorola 6809. There are also 5 new pictires on the bottom of William's page. William is looking for more chips for die photography. If you have any chips you'd like to donate to him please contact him.
