Pentium III Slot 1 processors were added to the Pentium III CPU family. There is no processor information right now, I will add it later this week. I'm also planning more updates this week for the Pentium III family - I have 10 more Slot 1 processors and many Socket 370 CPUs that are not on the website yet.

New microcontroller family was added today. This time it's a MOS Technology 6500 family - as you may have guessed, this family was based on 6502 microprocessor. The "MOS Technology" part of family name can be incorrect - if you have any comments about it or you know what company is the the first manufacturer of 6500/6501 microcontrollers please post in the forum.

"The Collector's Guide to Vintage Intel Microchips, 1st edition" written by George Phillips is now available for sale. The guide contains information on vintage Intel microprocessors starting from 4004 and up to 8088, vintage Intel memory and support/peripheral chips. Each chip family includes many, if not all, variations of chip markings and collector values of chips. More information about the guide is available at www.vintagemicrochips.com.

I added new 80287 co-processors. 80287 page is fairly compelte now. There are maybe a few chips missing, and I'm planning to add "Architecture" page later. If anybody has a datasheet for IIT or Cyrix 80287 FPUs I'd love to hear from you.

I tested more than 10 different Intel desktop Pentium II and Slot 1 Celeron processors. Slot 1 Pentium III processors will be added soon, and they will include benchmarks too. Benchmarks for Slot 1 processors are pretty much done for now as I don't have any more Slot 1 processor to test.

Nothing added to the site :) These are not real news, the real news are I found new job, and I can't spend as much time as before updating the site. From now on there'll be fewer information updates, though I'll try to add more processors and information whenever I have spare time.

I tested Rise Technology MP6 engineering samples and updated pages with benchmark results. From five Socket 7 processors one (MP65RPAPH5-DS) didn't work. I don't know if it's supposed to work at all - it can be a mechanical sample.

There were no web site updates in the last 6 days, thanks to the flu. Now that I feel better I decided to update 8080 CPU family, and then I'll switch back to adding new families. There are 6 new chips in the family, all of them are interesting, though not all of them are in good condition. The most interesting and rare processor out of 6 is an OKI MSM8080A.

S-Spec number search script was enhanced to search for specific processors features: processor speed, bus speed, L2 cache type, package type and/or processor type. You can specify if you want to search for exact speed or L2 cache size, or match all speeds/cache sizes that are greater or smaller than some number. You can also match by partial package type (for example - "478-pin"), or partial processor type. The new search feature is still in beta state, so if you notice any problems with the search please send me an e-mail or post in the forum.

New family was added today - Texas Instruments TMS9900. One of the most interesting features of this microprocessor was that processor's general registers resided in RAM. This greatly simplified context switching - the program/routine would tell the processor to use different memory block for its registers, perform necessary operations and at the end restore the old pointer to registers. This feature also slowed down the processor, as the processor had to access RAM during every operation with general registers. Well, you can't have it both ways... There are two different manufacturers in this update - AMI and Texas Instruments. There is also one unindentified 9900 processor - ITT9900?L (probably ITT9900JL). If anybody knows who manufactured it please send me e-mail or post in the forum.

I updated as much information on 8048 and 8035 microcontrollers as I could. I don't have enough info to update remaining parts, but I'm sure sooner or later I'll find it. Of course, the sooner the better, so I decided to speed up the things a little bit and put up a new page: wanted documentation. This page shows all chip families I'm looking documentation for. If you have any datasheets or manuals for parts from that page and you don't need them please contact me.

More MCS-48 microcontrollers were added to the site. From the 12 new 8035 microcontrollers there are three interesting ones: Czechoslovakian and Soviet 8035 clones. I'm falling behind with updating information for the chips, so for now enjoy the pictures.

S-Spec numbers were updated today. Just a handful of S-spec numbers were added: missing numbers from different families, about 20 new Celeron D S-spec numbers, QDF numbers for engineering/qualification samples and S-Spec numbers for Intel peripheral chips. I fixed a bug in the identification script - it didn't identify Qxxx and Qxxxx QDF numbers before, not it does it correctly.

As the site doesn't have many microcontroller families covered I decided to add a new one - 8048. 8048 microcontrollers are part of MCS48 family. From 6 new MCUs the most interesting one is a Czechoslovakian 8048 clone. I have more microcontrollers from the MCS48 family - 8035, 8039, 8748, etc. All of them will be added later this month.

I made many changes to the chip identification tool. The major changes are: identification of mobile AMD Athlon and Athlon XP-M processors, and Intel Celeron processors. I fixed the script so it now correctly identifies Sempron CPUs. CPU identification pages were updated too.
