I posted data on dual-core Opteron CPUs. There will be two or three updates coming later this week - I'm planning to post second-generation Opteron processors and CPU charts of all Opterons.

Mar 25

I added information on more than 80 single-core Opteron processors.

Mar 23
Last weekend working on S-spec update I discovered one peculiar s-spec number - SL69W. This S-spec number is for a Celeron Tualatin 1.5 GHz - the fastest Celeron Tualatin ever made. Part number of this processor is RK80531RC021128. There is almost nothing on the net for this S-Spec number so my guess is that finding this processor in the wild would be extremely difficult, if possible at all.

George Phillips, one of well-known collectors in CPU collectors community, recently released 4th edition of The Collector's Guide to Vintage Intel Microchips. The guide contains information on vintage Intel microprocessors from 4004 and up to 8088, vintage Intel memory and support/peripheral chips. The new edition contains new package and copyright variations, new pictures, and corrections to chip information. More information about the guide is available at www.vintagemicrochips.com.

S-Spec and AMD stepping code submission pages now scale down uploaded images. I also added about 50 S-Spec codes to the S-Spec database. Almost all submitted S-Spec numbers are in the database now - thanks to all who submitted them!

Mar 17
I've made a few enhancements to comment posting script. When you upload an image with a comment you can now see uploaded image before the comment is posted. The uploaded images are now automatically scaled and displayed as thumbnails - you can click on them to see full-size image in a popup window. The last new feature of updated comment script is better protection from spam.

Mar 14
I combined data from all CPU charts and created a new page - combined CPU Chart. This chart is much more flexible than individual charts - you can choose what column to display, you can sort exactly the same way as on individual chart pages, and - the best part - you can filter record by data in any columns using many different conditions.

Mar 10
CPU charts of Mobile 64 microprocessors, Turion 64 and Turion 64 X2 CPUs were added to the site.

Mar 6
I added Turion 64 mobile technology and Turion 64 X2 mobile technology microprocessors. The only K8 processors missing from K8 family page are Opterons. I will post their data next week in three separate updates - single-core Opterons, dual-core Opterons and second-generation Opterons.

Mar 2
K8 CPU family now has information on Mobile Athlon 64 microprocessors.

Feb 23
AMD Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 CPU families now include all recently released processors. The families were also updated with a few missing processors. If you have pictures or additional information on any Athlon 64/64 X2 CPUs please upload/post them as comments. Please upload only pictures that you took yourself.

Feb 19
Another piece of Pentium 4-related data was added to the site: Socket 775 and socket 423 pages. I think I spent enough time on Pentium 4 family, so for the next two weeks I'm going to work on AMD K8 family.

Feb 18
I added new links to CPU collector sites: Cpu-collection.com, CpuTime, CPU-Welt and Gecko's CPU library.

Feb 14
I added identification of Intel OEM part numbers. Now you can use this page or our identification tool to decipher OEM part numbers of many Intel modern microprocessors starting from Pentium II.

Feb 13
Early this morning the CPU-World was inaccessible for short period of time - probably up to 10 minutes. It seems that the cause of this was that some visitors used web accelerator or similar software to browse the forum. This software pre-loads many web pages from a site in very short period of time, which may significantly increase the load on the site, and make it slower for other visitors. So, by pre-loading the pages the software makes browsing faster, but it does it at the expense of other visitors. Therefore, I wanted to ask visitors not to use web accelerators. To make sure that there won't be other downtime in the near future I confgured the server to block requests of some web accelerators.

Feb 11
Microprocessor core names page was updated with 4 new Pentium 4 cores: Willamette, Northwood, Prescott and Cedar Mill.

Feb 9
Three Pentium 4 CPU charts were added to the site: desktop Pentium 4, Mobile Pentium 4 and Mobile Pentium 4-M. While working on the charts I added missing TDP and core voltage values for Williamette and Northwood CPUs, and corrected maximum power data for Northwood processors.

Feb 4
I created its own page for all Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processors. Many Pentium 4 S-Spec numbers were updated with missing information. Now Pentium 4 family is fairly complete. Next week I'm planning to Pentium 4 related data to other parts of the site - particularly to identification, sockets, core names and CPU charts pages.

Feb 3
Pentium 4 CPU family now has data on Mobile Pentium 4 processors. Earlier this week I added desktop Pentium 4 CPUs based on 0.065 micron technology.

Jan 28
More data was added to Pentium 4 CPU family: two Pentium 4 Extreme edition Northwood processors and about 20 socket 775 Prescott processors.

Jan 27
I started adding Pentium 4 Prescott microprocessors. My goal is to put online by the end of next week all missing from the site Pentium 4 microprocessors.

Jan 21
Most of the submitted S-Spec numbers are in S-Spec database now. The database was also updated to include all recently released and a few unreleased (yet) S-Spec numbers.

Jan 20
Last fall William Blair sent me more pictures of integrated circuit dies. Many of them were added today to Microprocessor die pictures page and to AMD 2901, AMD K5, Cyrix 6x86, Intel 8088, Intel 80386 and Intel 80486 CPU pages. For today's update I selected only microprocessor dies. Pictures of other chips I will save for another update. All pictures are published with William's permission.

Jan 15
I've made many changes to Intel Pentium CPU pages. Various data on desktop and mobile processors was corrected and expanded. I added sub-families of mobile Pentium MMX, embedded Pentium MMX and embedded non-MMX microprocessors. I had to spend the whole weekend on this update due to a fact that some desktop, mobile and embedded Pentiums have the same part number, so it was more difficult to sort them out, and more time-consuming to build lists of S-Spec numbers for each one of them.

Jan 11
Intel model numbers page was updated. I also updated identification data, so that identification tool now recognizes Intel model numbers.

Jan 6
Mobile K8 Athlon XP-M processors and their identification was added to the site. I also updated CPU data, identification and CPU charts with a few new Athlon 64 X2 processors with core stepping F3.

Jan 4
I added Microprocessor charts page. This page has links to CPU charts that we have so far. Second new feature added today is the ability to sort data in all CPU charts. That feature may not work in old browsers.
