This week I'm going to start updating design of CPU/FPU/MCU pages. The goal is to make the pages look similar to s-spec pages and other sections of the site, and at the same time significantly reduce the size of pages - by about 20% - 30% on average. I also wanted to simplify the interface - move all related links to one 'Links' box, eliminate some unnecessary links, and in some cases add extra information about a chip or a family. Take a look at AMD K8 CPU family to see new CPU page design

The site was moved to new server. New server should be faster and have more resources, which hopefully will help to eliminate occasional errors the site visitors, and especially forum visitors, were getting in the past few months. The move is almost complete, and now I can concentrate more on site updates.

Big update of S-Spec numbers today. I created Intel Core Solo and Intel Core Duo pages, and updated Pentium D, Pentium 4, Celeron M and Pentium M pages with recently released S-Specs numbers.

Thanks to William Blair, we now have more pictures of chip dies. William is currently looking for more chips for die photography. If you have any chips you'd like to donate to him (they could be in bad condition, have missing pins, etc) please contact him.

I added AMD ElanSC400 embedded CPU family. Identification of these processors was added too. ElanSC400 microprocessors are based on AMD 80486 core, and incorporate many peripherals on a chip, including an LCD graphics controller. The chips were introduced in 1996(?), and discontinued in 2002.

CPU-World front page now has "Random picture" feature in the lower right corner of the page. It is random in the sense that every 20 minutes a new random picture will be displayed there. There are still some minor issues with the "Random Picture", like the color of picture border. These issues will be resolved in the next few days.

I added 6 new Xeon microprocessors, including one engineering sample not marked with specific speed (pictured). According to markings that Xeon CPU has 1 MB L2 cache, which is very unusual because all other Xeon processors with 400 MHz bus had only 256 or 512 KB L2 cache.

New section "Recent Updates" was added to the front page just below the news. The section is going to list recently updated files - up to 6 at a time. As a result "News" section is going to be used only for new additions to the site or to announce major updates

It is now possible to go to any manufacturer/family page from the front page. To do that select desired manufacturer name and then family name at the top of the "Quick Links" section on the front page, and click 'Go' . This feature requires javascript to be enabled in your browser.
