Browse/Search feature of our Benchmark database was greatly improved:
  • It is now possible to select individual processors in addition to CPU families.
  • The resulting chart can optionally show processor performance as percentage relative to selected CPU.
  • For every test result we now display links to page with detailed information on the test system and the CPU.
  • Individual CPUs can now be removed from the chart.

Jun 14
I uploaded test results of about 10 socket AM2 microprocessors to the benchmark database. I have many socket 939 CPUs in collection, but I can't test them due to problems with my socket 939 motherboard, so there won't any socket 939 benchmarks soon. Next week I will post more benchmarks of socket 754 processors, and then I will start testing Intel processors.

Jun 13
I added pictures of Athlon 64 X2 microprocessors:

More than 50 new S-spec numbers were added to the S-Spec database.

Jun 7
More benchmark results for socket 754 processors were added to the benchmark database. Six of the 9 tested processors are mobile Turion 64 and Mobile Sempron CPUs. Next week I'm going to post test results of remaining socket 754 CPUs (that I have), and I will also post benchmarks of Athlon and Athlon 64 X2 socket AM2 processors.

Jun 5
Links to four CPU and chip collector sites were added to Links section: 155la3.ru Collection of electronic rarities (in Russian), CPU-Ukraine, Silirium.ru Online Chips Museum, and Vintchip Chip collection.

Socket 940 page was added to the Sockets section.

May 24
Part numbers of RoHS-compliant i960 microprocessors were added to Intel 80960 family. Also, the family now includes information on 80960RS and 80960VH CPUs.

May 21
Benchmark results of socket 754 K8 Sempron and Athlon 64 processors were uploaded to the benchmark database. I have a small pile of single-core socket 939 / AM2 processors ready to be tested, so more benchmark results will be coming in the next two weeks. For now I will include only dhrystone, whetstone, superPI, 3DMark and Sandra tests.

May 20
I uploaded a few pictures of AMD Athlon 64 processors. This update includes one interesting pre-release processor with non-standard part number ADAAA2800ACN5, and four socket 939 CPUs:

I added missing B1- and B2-stepping Third Generation Opterons and updated Opteron model numbers page. I also added a page with identification of Phenom and Third Generation Opteron processors. Identification tool was updated too - it can now recognize all (or so I hope) processors from K10 family.

May 17
Search benchmarks page was re-written. Currently it can display benchmark results for one or more CPU families as a simple bar chart. I also updated benchmarks administration page. It is no longer possible to add benchmarks of new types (besides those that are already in the database). This is a temporary restriction, I will remove it when I add come up with a way to add new benchmark types.

May 12
National Semiconductor Geode SC2200 family was added to the site. I apologize for the lack of updates in the past few weeks - I spent way more time implementing benchmark database than I planned for it, and since last week I'm working on important side project. I hope to finish the project by next weekend, then I'll have more spare time to work on new site updates.

CPU benchmark database now includes results of all benchmarks of Pentium, K5, 6x86, Pentium II, and other processors, which I did long time ago, and which you can find on old benchmarks page. The new page is difficult to use, but it should be significantly improved in the near future.

Apr 28
On December 31st of last year I mentioned in the news that I'm working on a new CPU benchmark database. I was planning to finish it in the January of this year, but due to lack of time - I spent lot of time working on other areas of the site - the project was delayed. Today I finished the first phase of this project and put the database online. The database is not limited to specific benchmarks, so you can post anything that may serve as a benchmark. For example, a loop from 1 to 1000 or 10000 written in BASIC language on a very old computer can be considered a benchmark. Another important feature of the database - it is not limited to AMD and Intel processors, or x86 CPUs, and Windows OS. So, you can run any type of benchmark on any OS on any system, and add results to our database. The database search page doesn't have many options yet - it will be improved in the near future.

A few notes about posting your own benchmarks. To post the benchmarks you will need to register in the forum (the administration page and the forum share usernames and passwords), and proceed to the administration page. You don't need to register if you're already a registered user in the forum. Please, don't post bogus benchmarks - I will take them down.

Apr 27
Recently released Phenom 8x50 triple-core processors and energy efficient Athlon X2 4x50 CPUs were added to the site. I also added Sempron X2 CPUs - these processors were not officially launched by AMD, although they're already selling in online stores here in US.

Apr 16
AMD K7 and K8 stepping codes pages were updated today. I also started new pages - AMD K10 stepping codes and Timeline of AMD K10 stepping codes. I don't have many stepping codes for Phenom and Third Generation Opteron processors yet, so if you have any new ones or even existing ones with different date codes please submit them. When you submit them please specify complete second line from the CPU markings, i.e. the stepping code, date code and other rest of the line. This is how submitted stepping code should look like: CAAZB AA 0743FPMW.

Apr 15
I added missing processor modules to Mobile Celeron modules page. The page included only older modules based on 0.25 micron mobile processors. All CPU modules added today are based on 0.18 micron Coppermine core, and have PMN* part numbers.

Apr 13
Earlier this week AMD released new Third-Generation Opteron processors based on B3 core stepping. All these processors were added to the site.

Apr 10
I didn't have any pictures of socket 775 processors on the site, so I added a few of them today:

Banias core and Dothan core pages were added today.

Apr 6
New pictures of VIA C3 / VIA Cyrix III processors were added today. I've made a few changes to the VIA C3 family and put some basic description of it, but not everything was finished. I will write better description, add information on Nehemiah processors, and create VIA CPU charts in the next week or two.

More than 50 new S-spec numbers were added to the S-Spec database. You can find the list of all added numbers on this page. As you can see there, two thirds of newly added S-Spec numbers are engineering samples, and about half of all added S-Specs are for Core 2 Duo Mobile family.

Apr 1
All Pentium 4 core pages were updated, and I added Pentium D/Pentium Extreme Edition Smithfield and Presler core names.
