I'm going to be out of country for five days, and during that time I will have only limited access to internet. All submitted comments will be approved, and all e-mails will be answered when I get back.

CPUID browse pages now display core revision for AMD K8 and K10 microprocessors. I also modified the browse page to generate correct CPU name string for K10 microprocessors - that is useful if your motherboard's BIOS is not up-to-date, and it doesn't set correct CPU name for CPUID instruction. The generated CPU name is displayed only when it differs from CPU name string returned by the CPUID instruction. As an example, see CPUID information on Phenom II X3 710 processor. For that processor old version of BIOS returned "AMD Processor model unknown", while the CPU name string should be "AMD Phenom(tm) II X3 710 Processor".

I added recently submitted benchmarks page. Also, in the last few days I posted new benchmarks for about 20 different AMD and Intel processors, including old processors, like Celeron D or Pentium 4, and several CPUs released not long ago, such as Pentium Dual-Core E6300 and AMD Athlon II X2 250.

I've made a few changes to how CPU family pages are generated, and now the lists of processors or CPU families may include not only pictures taken by me, but also pictures uploaded by site visitors. See, for example, how it looks on the K10 family page. Selection of pictures for lists of families and CPUs is manual, and it is done by me. So far I updated only K8 and K10 family pages.

I updated information on AMD Phenom II X2 and Athlon II X2 processors that were released today. I also added several things to CPU browse page - it now displays frequency of tested processors, you can see now more than 20 last submitted results, and all displayed results can be sorted.

It was a busy day for me today... AMD released six-core Opteron processors, and Intel posted S-Spec numbers of new microprocessors, including Core I7-950 and Core i7-975 CPUs. I didn't have time to research information on all processors, so today I added only new Intel CPUs, and I will add Opteron processors in the next two days.

I completed a series of updates of CPU-Upgrade site. I'm trying to keep 2-3 month update interval for upgrade information, which should be sufficient in most cases.

More than 70 new S-spec numbers were added to the S-Spec database. Majority of added numbers are for Xeon engineering and qualification samples.

All public CPU submissions, that have correct manufacturer name and part number defined, are now included on the CPU pages. See, for example, how it looks on the Core 2 Duo Mobile T7600 page (click on the "CPU ID" tab). Special thanks to cocoe and Neon who did a lot of testing and made more than half of all public submissions. As a reminder, to view detailed list of CPU features for your processors, and at the same time submit it to our server you will need to download and run CWID program. Submitted CPU ID data will not be accessible by other site visitors unless you decide to make it public (and we encourage you to do so).

To make site updates more visible to site visitors I decided to post links to new CPU pages and other new site pages in the News section. Not all updates may be mentioned in the News section. For example, I'm not planning to post links to new S-Spec pages in the News. Full list of site's updates will still be available on the Recent updates page. New CPU pages for today are:

It's been a long time since I added new CPU family to the site. Last time it was Intel 80376 family, and it was added on last year on November 16. Due to recent backend script updates, it's much easier for me to keep up with new CPU releases, and I have some extra time to spend on adding older CPU families. Today I added VIA C7-D family. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a C7-D datasheet, therefore all information for C7-D pages was gathered from other public sources: VIA website, press releases, processor pictures, CPUID information, and so on.

I've made a few improvements to the S-Spec database and S-Spec search/identification pages. The S-spec database now handles non-unique S-Spec numbers - each of those numbers is now displayed on a separate page. S-Spec search tool now displays L3 cache size, the number of cores and socket type instead of L1 cache size and package type. Identification script now shows more details about the S-Spec than before.

New Xeon 3500 and 5500 microprocessors were added to Xeon family. There were other site updates in the past two weeks, but they are too minor to mention here. Tomorrow (April 2nd) I'll be leaving for 6-day vacation. During that time I won't have access to e-mail or to the site. All submitted pictures and comments will be approved, and all e-mails will be answered when I get back.
