Jun 14   Changes to the S-Spec database

I started to make more modifications to S-Spec database-related scripts. As I already mentioned in previous site update, this should make it easier to enter new S-Spec data. Besides that, there will be a few visible changes on the S-Spec pages themselves. Right now, S-Spec pages for different CPU families are not very consistent with each other. For example, some families don't have Thermal Design Power, or processor core fields. This will be fixed. I will also a few new fields, such as "L2 cache revision", or "Package revision" for several CPU families. Since I'll be working mostly on this changes, other site activities will be slowed down - there will be fewer news, new image uploads, etc.

Apr 9   Site update - added featured eBay auctions

I added "Featured eBay auctions" block to the front page of CPU-World. This block will link to some of my eBay auctions, and, possibly, to various interesting auctions of other CPU collectors. As a note, my eBay auctions are not official CPU-World auctions or sales. Most of the microprocessors and microcontrollers, that you see on the site, I bought as new boxed or OEM parts at my own expense, and I periodically sell more expensive processors on eBay to recoup my costs. So, adding links to my auctions is a way to promote them and get better price. This will allow me to buy more processors, test them, sell them, and so on.

Apr 08   References to Celeron E3900 surfaced

In the August of last year there were reports about Celeron E3900 processor to be launched in the first quarter of this year. With 3.4 GHz core frequency, as opposed to 2.6 GHz for fastest at this time Celeron E3400, the E3900 was supposed to be a big leap in performance for budget desktop processors.   [Full story]

Apr 6   Site updates

As you probably already noticed, I changed news format. From now on all site update news, like this one, will be posted in old format both on the front page and on the "News" page. Other news, like new processors releases, rumors about upcoming processors, interesting facts about vintage processors and systems, will be posted in new format - front page and the "News" page will show a headline and the first few sentences from the article. The headline for other news will be linked to a page with complete news article. Eventually I will either split site update news and other news into different sections, or provide a way to hide certain types of news.
