Finally, forum design was changed from default style to new, "CPU-World" style. I used this opportunity to update the forum software to the latest version and installed forum modifications that should make forum more responsive.

In the past few days I added Pentium 4, Mobile Pentium 4-M, Pentium M, Celeron D and Celeron M S-Spec numbers. The page with Pentium 4 S-Spec numbers is incomplete, it'll post missing information next week.

I added 21 new chips to the AMD 2901 bit-slice processor page. There are many Soviet 290x clones in this update. I'm leaving for vacation, so there won't be any updates for more than a week. I'll reply to all e-mails when I get back.

Benchmarks were added to AMD K5 page.

Sep 12

Benchmark comparison page is now online. The page can be used to compare up to 5 processors at once, the results are displayed as numbers. There are no fancy 3D graps or anything like that... though it'd be nice to add them in the future.

Added Rise Technology MP6 family of microprocessors. I have only two 266 MHz MP6 chips with slightly different part numbers. Finding non-266 MHz versions of this processor is very difficult, if you have one or more of them please contact me.

Added 16 more benchmarks of IDT Winchip C6 and IDT Winchip 2 processors.

I completed benchmarking of more than 40 different AMD K6, AMD K6-2 and AMD K6-III processors, including engineering samples, and updated processors pages with these results. Benchmark results for other families (Winchip II and C6, Cyrix 6x86 and MII, etc) will be posted in the next few weeks.

I added new NEC V30 CPU page. The main difference between V30 and V20 CPUs is that V30 has 16-bit external data bus, while V20 has only 8 bit external data bus. V30 microprocesors were produced by a few different companies. In this update in addition to NEC CPUs you can see three other manufacturers of V30 chips - Zilog, Sharp and Sony.

Added new Motorola 68060 CPUs. 68060 was the last processor in 680x0 family of processors. 68060 is a superscalar processor with 2 instruction pipelines, branch prediction, integrated floating point unit and other enhancements. Not suprisingly, the 68060 was a few times faster than 68040 CPU. A few different versions of the processor were produced - with FPU and memory managent units, cheaper 68LC060 version without the FPU, and 68EC060 embedded version without FPU and MMUs.

I separated NEC V20 processors from 8088 family and added 7 new V20 processors. V20s are 8088 compatible microprocessors with 80186/80188 instruction set and 8080 compatibility mode. Due to internal optimizations (dual internal bus, faster math unit, etc) the processor was slightly faster than Intel 8088.

S-Spec pages were updated: I put up a new Pentium III Xeon specification page, added missing and pre-production s-spec numbers to Pentium II, Pentium III, mobile Pentium III, and mobile Pentium III-M pages, included new data (SL technology and voltage) to the 80486 s-spec page.

Two new co-processors were added to the new Intel 80C187 page. 80C187 co-processors were used primarily in embedded applications together with 80C186 processors. Discontinued 8 years ago, these chips are difficult to find now and they're getting more and more expensive.

6800/6809/680x broken links are fixed. I also fixed broken links for AMD K6-2, K6-III, Duron, and Intel 80486 overdrive families on many pages.

Aug 16

680x page was split into three separate pages - Motorola 6800 and Motorola 6809 processors, and Motorola 680x microcontrollers. This change could break some links, I'll fix those when I notice them.

Another week, another update... This time I added 11 new processors to Intel 80186 family. There are some interesting chips there - for example, Fujitsu 80186 processors are difficult to find. Even more rare is an early AMD C80186-1 CPU. Oh, and don't miss engineering sample of Intel C80186.

There were many x86 recent updates recently, therefore this time I decided to add something not related to x86 processors. Today we have 16 new Motorola 68030 microprocessors, including two difficult to find 50 MHz versions of the 68030. Some of the processors are in not very common plastic pin grid array package.

Intel identification page was updated with identification of 80486 and Pentium overdrive processors, Pentium Pro, Pentium II and Pentium III CPUs. The page became too long, so I split it into few pages. I also updated a few identification pages with pictures. Take a look at 80486 page to see how it looks now.

Jul 23

Added Pentium III family with 6 processors. All of them are common production CPUs in FC-PGA (Socket 370) package. Mobile Pentium III processors and Pentium III processors in SECC2 package will be added in the next two weeks.

I updated Other chips page with more peripheral and support chips. In addition to assigning chips to CPU families I added grouping by first two digits of the part number. Not many chips are listed there right now, but I more will be added in the future.

Jul 18

I added 12 new processors to the Intel 80188 page. This update includes a mix of old 80188 processors and newer processors based on 80188 design. Two the most intersting and rare processors are 80188 engineering samples - one is a C80188-6 and another is an unmarked processor with a sticker "188 A-1".

Updated many identification pages: AMD, Cyrix, Intel, Motorola and National Semiconductor. New pages added: IDT, Philips, RCA and Rise Technology. AMD identification page was split into few smaller pages. These changes may break some direct links from CPU pages to identification pages, in the next few days invalid links will be corrected.

5 new Winchip processors were added to IDT Winchip C6 page. Winchip sample chip and Winchip 180 MHz engineering sample are both worth to take a look at. I don't have information on DSxxxGAEM/DSxxxGAFM processors right now and, just to be safe, I decided not to put any specs for them.

Pentium III and Mobile Pentium III specification numbers are now online. Pentium II S-Spec info was updated too.

Jul 5

I finished S-Spec search script, and it's now online. I also added SSpec numbers for 80386, 80387, 80486 and 80487 processors, and you can now search all S-Spec numbers for Intel processors starting from 80386 and up to Pentium II. Pentium III SSpec numbers will be added later this week. And the last small change - I created a separate 80486 overdrive page for 80486 overdrive processors.

Jul 2

Small site update: K6 CPU page was split into three pages - AMD K6, AMD K6-2 and AMD K6-III. Many K6/K6-2/K6-III pages were updated.
