Quick note - I'm back and I'm working on the next site update which will include information on Athlon 64 processors. When I returned from vacation I found quite a few upgrade questions posted as comments and sent to me in e-mails. I won't be able to respond to all questions due to lack of spare time. I have full time day job not related to this site, and if I start responding to all questions I won't have time at all to update the site.

I'm leaving for vacation for 10 days, as a result there won't be any updates on the site while I'm gone. During that time I won't be able to respond to e-mails and approve comments and S-Spec number submissions. I'll take care of e-mails and web site submissions as soon as I return.

S-Spec database was updated with the latest Core 2 Duo Mobile, Pentium D, Celeron D, Pentium M, Celeron M and Itanium 2 s-spec numbers.

Sep 6

We now have a page that shows all recent submissions of S-Spec numbers. I usually add those to S-Spec database once a week, or once every two weeks if I don't have many S-spec numbers to add.

Sep 3

I added information on Mobile Sempron microprocessors to K8 CPU page. I don't have datasheets on any Mobile Sempron processors, so I combined bits and pieces from other AMD technical documents, CPU-World's CPU identification and AMD stepping information. The list of processors should be fairly complete with the exception of socket S1 Mobile Semprons with 512 KB L2 cache. I'll add those when I find more information about them.

AMD
Mobile Sempron 3000+

AMD Mobile Sempron 2800+ - SMS2800BOX3LB
AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+ - SMS3000BOX2LB
AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+ - SMS3000BQX2LF

I resumed testing microprocessors. The first batch of tested processors are a few AMD Athlon Thunderbirds. The results of testing are now online.

For last few months I used this forum thread to collect information about S-Spec numbers missing from our S-Spec database. At last I created a special page where missing S-Spec numbers can be submitted. Right now it's not possible to see the status of your submission. Eventually I'll make a separate page which will show all recently submitted S-Spec numbers.

AMD Athlon 750 - A0750APT3B (Engineering Sample)
AMD Athlon 850 - A0850AMT3B (Production part and ES)
AMD Athlon 900 - A0900AMT3B
AMD Athlon 900 - A0900AMT3B (Engineering Sample)
AMD Athlon 950 - A0950AMT3B (Engineering Sample)
AMD Athlon 1000 - A1000AMT3B (Engineering Sample)
AMD Athlon 1000 - A1000DMT3B

AMD Athlon 1200 - A1200AMS3B (Engineering Sample)

Long time ago I acquired Pentium 4-M sales kit. Now, after the Pentium 4-M family was added to the site, is probably a good time to post pictures of the sales kit.

Aug 19

I added Mobile Pentium 4-M processors to Intel Pentium 4 page.

Intel
Mobile Pentium 4-M 1.6 GHz

Intel Mobile Pentium 4-M 1.6 GHz - RH80532GC025512 (BXM80532GC1600D)
Intel Mobile Pentium 4-M 1.7 GHz - RH80532GC029512 (BXM80532GC1700D)
Intel Mobile Pentium 4-M 2.2 GHz - RH80532GC049512 (BXM80532GC2200D)

Terms and Conditions page was added to the site. It's currently linked only from the front page, I'll add links to other pages later. There is one thing on the "Terms and Conditions" that is worth mentioning here: Please do not use site downloaders, offline browsers and similar automated programs. These programs take away site resources that could be used to serve human visitors. For this reason these programs are prohibited. The site employs software that recognizes requests made by automated programs and temporary bans them.

I added VIA Eden_ESP CPU family.

VIA
Eden ESP 5000

VIA Eden ESP 4000 (100 x 4.0) 1.05V
VIA Eden ESP 5000 (133 x 4.0) 1.20V
VIA Eden ESP 6000 1.10V
VIA Eden ESP 6000 (133 x 4.5) 1.20V

Identification tool was updated. Now it shows portions of identified part number so the whole identification process is less obscure. I've made a few other minor improvements to the tool as well.

Aug 8

AMD 29040 CPU family was added to the site. I included pictures of two engineering samples, as well as pictures of a few more common Am29040 microprocessors.

AMD
Am29040-ALPHA

AMD Am29040-ALPHA
AMD Am29040-30KC
AMD Am29040-33GC
AMD Am29040-33KC
AMD Am29045-50KC

I updated design of CPU identification pages. The pages look slightly different, and, what is more important, they are much smaller now - on average by 40%. There are still a few areas of the site with outdated design, but I hope to change them before the New Year.

Aug 3

Intel Timna CPU family was added to the site. Timna processors are essentially Celerons with integrated graphics and memory controllers. I have only one Timna processor, which is still good considering that the family was cancelled by Intel before it went into production.

Intel
Timna 600 MHz

Intel Timna 600 MHz - RB80529RZ600128

I added information on Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessors and updated S-Spec numbers.

Jul 29

I added a page with AMD package numbers. Identification tool was also updated to recognize the package numbers.

Jul 22

There are 7 new pictures of IBM 486 processors on IBM 80486 CPU family page:

IBM
03H8585 [Marked 25/50 MHz]

IBM 03H8404
IBM 03H8585 [Marked 25/50 MHz]
IBM 03H8585 [No other markings]
IBM BL 486DX2-50GB
IBM 486-V266QA
IBM 486-2V266GB
IBM 486-4V3100QIC

I added 4 603ev microprocessors to PowerPC 603 CPU family:

Motorola
XPC603PRX200LE

IBM PPC603evBB200r
Motorola XPC603PRX200LC
Motorola XPC603PRX200LE
Motorola XPC603PRX240LD

With Conroe reviews posted all over the net, I wanted to add something to this. Certainly not a review - CPU-World is not a review site. I decided to compile a small list of S-Spec codes of Core 2 Duo processors. Hopefully this information will be useful for somebody.

More information on AMD stepping code is available now: lists of AMD K7 stepping codes and AMD K8 stepping codes.

Jul 10

AMD K7 and AMD K8 microprocessor pages now include stepping codes (like AGOIA). I also changed identification tool to recognize stepping codes. Before the tool only recognized stepping code/date code combination.

Jul 9

New page added: difference between Celeron and Pentium processors. The page lists basic differences between these Celeron and Pentium II/III/4 processors for three generations of Celeron processors.

Jul 7

CPU identification pages and tool can now identify microprocessors from Intel 80860, IBM 6x86 and Motorola PowerPC 603 families. I also revised indentification of IBM 80486 processor family.

Jul 5

I added a link to Intel's CPU family trees website to Resource links section.

Jul 3

I added Intel i860 (80860) microprocessor family. The i860 is a 32-bit CPU that was often used as an embedded or graphics processor. 80860XP CPU was also used in parallel computer systems, like Intel Paragon. Interesting that Intel documentation often calls this processor as 64-bit, which is hardly the case as the CPU has 32-bit integer unit, works with 32-bit integer data types and 32-bit instructions.

Intel A80860XP-40
Intel A80860XP-50
Intel A80860XR-33
