Came across this today.
Did you know that Intel originally planned to call the Pentium the 586DX? They even had a number of production chips made. As the 586DX already had an FPU built in, the 587DX was an additional numerical processor available as an upgrade to work with the 586 chip and increase the overall performance - sort of like a dual core. The iComp number on the 587DX indicates the performance of both chips working together.
Because other brands had already used the 586 name, Intel decided to rename the chip the Pentium and dropped the 587DX idea completely.
I had never heard about this before!

These chips are common.
I have a lot of the same Intel 586/587 chips but Engineering Samples
Please do not ask to trade/sale them Smile
