Hi
I'd like to test my Pentium 4 640, 3GHz, 84W, CPU Max. Case Temperature (Tcase_max): 67.7 °C with this heatsink:
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 Socket 1366/775/1155/1156/AM3, AM2+, 0.9 Sone, 900-2500rpm, PWM Fan Control, Low Noise
using Prime95.
1.) Which Prime95 option should be activated for my cpu?
1.) How long should I do the test?
2.) What max. CPU temp. should I have under stress?

When I use Prime 95 I use the Small FFT option, as it tests the processor more thoroughly than other options without being affected by the memory subsystem.
Personally I prefer Intel Burn Test, as it is more thorough than Prime 95 and generates more heat. It will find problems much quicker than Prime 95. A lot of people test Prime 95 for 12 or more hours, but with IBT you don't even neeed an hour. _________________ OMG, I finally found out what's wrong with my brain:

Thx, but you mean to test using CPU Burn-in? |

Intel Burn Test is the most thorough test for Intel processors. Most overclockers and benchmarkers use it to test for stability as it is both fast and thorough. It will generate maximum heat, and if a proceessor passes ten runs of it then it is stable enough for anything you throw at it.
Prime 95 can be good, but I found when running Folding@Home that P95 didn't generate errors that F@H generated, and I am sure there are other apps that will crash windows when P95 says the system is stable. _________________ OMG, I finally found out what's wrong with my brain:

In Poland we use Orthos more often. It is better than Prime95 with my experience. _________________ ABC CPU |

Note that it is is only good for older, single and dual core procesors. It hasn't been updated since 2005 and is no good for stress testing more modern processors with more than 2 cores. _________________ OMG, I finally found out what's wrong with my brain:
