This is a proof that the Intel 4004 is not the first CPU. Not that I have the first CPU in hand but I found its socket.
Codename "Mandalay". Found in Burma. Several hundred years old.

Of course at this time transistors were not invented so every switch was done by hand. The result is a big CPU. The CPU itself did not survive (a hand-transistor had a lifespan of about half a decade at that time).

But the socket is still impressive!
