first fpo and then serial...
if you take only last four numbers, it means nothing... |
Mine,
A80502-90 SX879
L4092767-0050
Chiptalk:
A80502-90 SX879
L4092989-0414
What does the FPO mean exactly? |
So what's the deal? How do we know one is older than the other? Were these two chips made from the same production line? |
We dont, but if you want just one gold winner, we need a photo finnish and then we use the numbers. I can change the font color and size and we get two winners, it does not matter to me.
For me this is no competition but a fun way of getting know more of the history around the cpus. For example its pretty spectacular that we got a Pentium 100 around the same time as a 75 or 90. |
So we don't know one is older than than the other? Then why did I go from Gold to Silver.
I am sure someone should know more about these numbers. How about the numbers on the back of the chip? |

Because the previous "rule" from the 486 contest where applied where we used the other numbers to divide two chips. If you want it some other way, no problem, you (collectors) make the rules. Im just a waterboy and manages the scoreboard

Manufacturers produce cpus by lot in a fab.
For a cpu of the same fab, a cpu of lot 2 will be produced before a cpu of lot 3...
Then number 3 of lot 2 will be produced before number 4 of lot 2...
Am I clear ?
Things are more complicated when cpus are made in different fabs, which is not your case (you have both "L" marking). _________________ Register on x86-guide.com to manage and share your collection on-line !

I have created a CPU Hall Of Fame where i list top 3 in the two "competitions" we had. The result are not definite and the rankings could change anytime if someone brings anything older...
http://www.cpuphotolibrary.com/index.php?template=record
(Those ranked highest with a unique CPU will replace the current one in the library.)
Are you ready for socket 4 (Pentium 60-66)?
