Excellent fake lol.
Huge problem in the industry even today is 'empty chips'
a package, with no die. 99% of them come from China. _________________ ***I Aim to Misbehave.***

It is decorative, but looks nice

But this MB can generate a 60 MHz bus speed. I use an am5x86 p75 at 180mhz (60x3 4v).
Only one of my five 5x86 can do it with stability.
Sorry my bad english. |

| There could be pcb traces between the top and bottom copper layers. 4 or more layers are common. |

I had a board with fake external cache, it was a pc chips for 486.
The chips were shorter than expected but the connections were real, would have worked with adequate chips.
I had been wondering why my 486 was slower for years, one day popping on a data sheet and a big warning on fake cache, and on a board with 512kb of cache that cyrix cpu flew like a bird... 512kb I didn't have on mine
It's not that uncommon but still amazes. |

| But it's haven't continuity with ground, the chips and the traces are decorative. If I want use external cache, I can use a module. |

The extra cache would be located on a separate expansion card, correct?
According to the link I posted, the cache is permanently disabled in BIOS, and the BIOS chip is soldered to the board. Therefore, you must bypass the BIOS if you want to have cache. |

I remember those 486 boards with "WRITEBACK" cache chips. Loads of boards had them either soldered or socketed, of course non of them were working. I had a mobo that had an option to enable/disable the cache, but it was not working! Someone modded the bios and just added an option that did absolutely nothing!
Adding anything to old bioses was very easy, even I managed to mod bios on a MSI Slot-1 mobo into Polish version Adding anything was very easy (I used modbin and something else, don't remember now), but getting it to work was a bigger problem. Nevertheless, it worked flawlessly _________________ Power without the price. |

Those "intel caches" are data buffers, part of the chipset. Only working cache you have is on slot cache module. |
