Here is a great site for finding a lot of this info: http://www.old-computers.com/museum/default.asp

They have 891 computers in the museum and tell what CPUs are in each one. I once spent about 3 or 4 hours going through and writting down the CPUs that were in the different machines just using this site. I have no idea what I did with that list though Question

I may make that list into a webpage if you don't mind.

Thanks much, I'll add it to my list.

Currently my list is
Cyrix 486 ID
Intel MCS-96 Family
What devices have what CPUs
E. German and Russian CPU ID (thanks to Frassal)

(oh and descriptions for 1000 chips in my collections)

Just a note, since I have some of the machines listed here: You probably will not find any C808x inside, it will be the cheapest version of a certain chip available at the time they were made. I found many second source chips in plastic package, original Intel versions or ceramic chips were quite rare. Try to find early revisions of a machine for the better versions of a chip.

You are right and I remember when I was making that list that there were occasions when you would find another make chip in the same system. So this list could be improved upon quite a bit.

I think it would be great if someone made a webpage based off the list and we all added to it. I contemplated it myslef but decided it would be too much work for me. My wife doesn't hardly give me time to shoot emails let alone work on a new page for my website Crying or Very sad

Yeah, I am wooped...

I forgot to login, anonymous was me,

so, cpushack, you have a big list of work requested by others...

And you have already a website, thats more than me.
And as Lee said, my wife, my children...

As long as it is only my hobby and not that of my family there will be no change (hm, my boy is 5, so maybe in ten years...)

Until then I must continue leeching - or buying like George's guide:-)

I would like to add some models to gmanbc's list:

8080:
Mycron Mycro-1
Tandberg TDV-2114
Tandberg TDV-2124
(Siemens had an OEM model of TDV-2124, don't remember the name)
Tandberg had a plant in San Diego producing TDV-2124 for the US market

8085:
Tandberg TDV-2300
Siemens 6.610 is an OEM model of TDV-2300

Siemens normally used their own CPU in their products
