When i started to collect CPU's almost a Year ago, i bought this Weitek, along with some other Chips. I only collect X86 CPU's from 8086 to K6-3 and Pentium Pro, and this one fell a little outside my Collection, not beeing from an ordinary Desktop PC, so i did'nt pay it much attention, untel the other day where i took a closer look at it.
Is it an "ES" or is it a joke

Yes, it is difficult to say whether a chip marked with ES is a real sample if can not find the enough evidence.
In fact, sometimes the only difference between the sample and non-sample chips is only the marked "ES", so it is hard to say...
Thinking that it is easy to mark a "ES" on a normal chip to MAKE a fake ES chips, right?
But I hope your ES weitek is a real one, I like weitek _________________ ********************** |

The ES looks like it was printed separately to the other text, so I would say it is more likely to be some kind of lot code or hve some other discrete meaning. _________________ Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.

| I think most probly is ES if you consider the early date code (9121)and the speed(30Mhz, 40Mhz is common). |
