Hi,
can You post a picture of this chip?
I remember a vintage NEC VGA controller (ceramic PGA) with a similar name, but I'm not sure!
Many uncommon NEC chips are either CMOS gate array or standard cell ASICs, an important business for NEC years ago.
My 2nd guess is for a MIPS based controller.

Hello,
for sure, it isn't the NEC graphics controller (looks totally different).
IMHO it's related to some MIPS-based hardware.
