In the last two days I've seen a few vintage chip eBay auctions with ridiculously high prices:

MOTOROLA MC6800L2 - $229:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-RARE-MOTOROLA-MC6800L2-GOLD-MPU-CPU-MC6800-/230506729726?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ab4590fe
The processor is less common than MC6800L, but still it's 10x times overpriced. Other seller's prices are not that bad.

C3101 with gray traces - $799:
http://cgi.ebay.com/INTEL-C3101-first-solid-state-memory-C4004-C8008-/220639301430?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item335f208f36

C4004 (white ceramic) - $2,376:
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-INTEL-C4004-PROCESSOR-COLLECTABLE-fba10a10-/120498488503?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item1c0e4504b7

And the winner is:
C3002 - $4,499. There are two of them at this price:
http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-VINTAGE-INTEL-C3002-3002-IC-CHIP-/350340502916?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5191ebd584

ha ha ha ha yea I have seen all of those before, its just silly what people put up on there some times. Its like they are looking to retire on the sale of one chip. Confused
I pmed the guy with the C3002 and told him straight up that I would give him a nice price for one of those and that the price he has it as is just insane and he will NEVER get that much for one. Needless to say I never heard anything back from him at all, not even a piss off message or anything. Rolling Eyes
We should have this thread added to as we find them and let it grow with stupidity found on Ebay. Very Happy

yes, they are overpriced, but some are really nice chips and not that much overpriced as others.

the c3101 seller is a forum member here which is from china and I know him. I ever talked to him with his price. he told me it might worth only a few bucks for a CPU collector but may worth a million for intel fans.

Here is how I judge worth of somthing, If theres a price set and after two or three months no one buys it , its not worth that much. Pretty simple really somthings worth is only limited by how much some one will pay for it and since I have seen those chips for sale a long time they must not be worth what people are asking no matter what you collect.

eBay makes it easy now to list items with high prices, so I am not surprised to see that going on.

Had those links been to completed sale transactions on eBay then I would have been stunned.

Anybody interested in

2N5214 Transistor x 1 pieces for US $1,057.58 ?

Luckily, there are still 6 to be had - perhaps they are a drop-in replacement for a gray-trace C4004 LOL

Another one... First TWKRs were sold for lot of money, but that's not a reason to ask $4,675 (more than 10x of its current price) for this processor:

I bought my last one of these for $15.
I hope he can get this much for one, but I highly doubt it. Wink

A few more examples:

An IMST414BG20 Transputer for $214.38
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380266977819

And the winner is...

C8231A - it's an AMD 9511 FPU clone. You can have it for only $763.18
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380257902993

P.S.: I was an idiot, because I've sold them here for only EUR 7.00 / piece.
I still have a tube full of NOS C8231As - but now they could be yours for only $759.99 / piece Very Happy
