Yes a very pretty chip Smile

Only 24cents between the top 2 bidders.. but I thought you would of tried harder Wink

I didn't want to spend much money on this one because I was bidding on two manufacturing scrap auctions. I actually won one of them:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120729775772&si=G0rZBWjvBebr6%252BcGzTmCv%252BmrWnI%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

There is a lot of oddball stuff there.

Gennadiy

congrats Genna, I was watching that... too bad that these auctions are us only often and if not then shipping cost is so high. Please post pictures of the hybrids when you got the lot.

I received the lot with unfinished chips. There were a few interesting chips in the lot, their pictures will be posted this week in the "Latest finds (Modern chips)" thread.

There were quite a few interesting Intel auctions lately. I'll start from big price items. Intel C8086 sold for $1125, i.e. a few times more than we (old timers) used to pay for it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Extremely-Rare-C8086-CPU-Intel-collection-/370518485426?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56449f69b2

Intel C4004 chipset in white ceramic was $25 cheaper:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Holy-Grail-MCS-4-set-C4004-C4003-C4002-2-C4002-1-C4001-/370518114279?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564499bfe7

C8086-4 brought $449, still a lot:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Extremely-Rare-Intel-C8086-4-Intel-Collection-/370518484804?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56449f6744

Intel C8087-11 engineering sample was sold for $731. That's the first C8087-11 that ever seen:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Extremely-Rare-Engineer-Sample-C8087-11-ES-/370518486923?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56449f6f8b

An auction for white ceramic C3002 ended at $535:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Extremely-Rare-Intel-C3002-CPU-/370518492895?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56449f86df

One of the best deals this month was P80C86 ES for $10 + shipping:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=370520876468+&si=G0rZBWjvBebr6%252BcGzTmCv%252BmrWnI%253D&viewitem=&clk_rvr_id=242505645980

Congratulations to its new owner!

It is a double nice one.. being a non A version & ES

took me a bit to find a datasheet, as the ones around were for 80C86A or late version M80C86 (military)
but there is a preliminary datasheet in the 1986 handbook (but nothing in 1988)

There were several interesting eBay auctions as of late. I will post them here in case if you missed any of them.

Intel University kit-B with C8080A-2 customer sample, and a bunch of CS chips, including some gray memory chips, fetched $840:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290586596579&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

An auction for gray Intel C4004 processor ended at $2,045.20:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Intel-C4004-Grey-just-freakin-beautiful-/160618039141?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item256594c765

That is the second gray C4004 auction with the final price, close to $2000. Intel C4004 with poor markings sold for one-tenth of that price:

http://cgi.ebay.com/INTEL-C4004-microprocessor-vintage-computing-IC-/120743209276?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1cdb293c

Finally, CPUShack's A80486DX2DICE sample was sold for $479.74:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270780812488&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

buy-it-now is 2000 USD and the seller accept an offer of 1500 USD
it must be a new record of desolders!

The buyer is bors123 (786).

By the way, the same seller sold MCS6502 in March 2010 for $107.50 Smile

Actually he bought two white 6502's, both for $1500ea x 2 = $3000 Shocked

Desoldered MOS 6502 White Ceramic
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250858468627
Socket Pull MOS 6502 White Ceramic - Side brazed
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250859706711

I believe the desoldered 6502 for $1500, WITH chips in the ceramic, was a rip off. He also claims that 5175 is an early date code. It obviously helps helps to put Apple 1 in the header!

According to a comment on this page: http://www.pagetable.com/?p=45
the ROR -bug was fixed in 1977, which makes most white 6502's (i have seen) inherent with this bug.

An ordinary socket pull 6502 white was sold for $234.50 on Dec. 7th 2011.
And I am sure most people remember that CPUShack's sold one recently for over $1000. The price increase seems to have gone exponential. Next year they will be at $10 000 minimum Laughing After that we will have a crash in the market and they will be back at $50 - $100 a piece again, not.

Maybe the buyer is an Apple-fan with
huge filled purse who wanted some original spare
processors if that one in his Apple 1 fails lol
To use any other 6502 for $5 would be a mortal sin
and he would come into hell, a hell that is
occupied by evil undead windows-users Twisted Evil

Hm, that Apple I that sold on Sothebys for £100000 or so had a poor black plastic CPU.

So he could have taken some $5 pieces as well;-)
