sorry for the cross posting but is there any way that the copper on these could be etched off without too many dangerous chemicals?

In PCB manufacture copper is etched off with Ferric Cloride



Nasty stuff, I hate using it. Maybe a weak solution will do the trick? Worth trying.


Also.. I know little about these wafers.. I didnt realise there was copper there.. what is the purpose of the copper - as a thermal interface?

JAC this is great information - do you think this would work on a wafer with copper deposition or would it be better to mechanically polish?

i think it is either a power interconnect, a ground plain or a shield

I DONT thin this is copper thin metlization on this Waffers...... Maybe is Incomplete And im wrong ....
try a Bath with ferric Cloride s JAC sugested And Soon u See if is Copper or not
