I've also see an AXDC2600DKV3C - presumably a Thorton core, running at
2.133Ghz (like the AXDA2600DKV3C, which
has the same FSB speed and cache size, so
presumably a similar rating). The one I
saw had a JIUHB stepping.

What tipe of AMD XP 2600+ CPU to pick between Thoroughbred, Thorton and Barton please?

Response: Their performance is about the same. Thorton or Barton will be cheaper.

Response: You should be able to upgrade to AXDA3000DKV4D. If your board is KM4AM-V then you can upgrade to AXDA3200DKV4E

Thermal Grease

Do not remove the thermal grease. Add more if needed. It is not conductive and will not short out anything. It is needed to enhance the transfer of heat from the processor to the heat sink.
