Microprocessor die pictures |

All microprocessor die pictures presented on www.cpu-world.com are copyrighted by William Blair and are published with his permission. For a complete list of pages containing links to CPU die pictures, please see further below. William is currently looking for more chips for die photography. His primary focus is on microprocessors, microcontrollers and FPU chips, but he will gladly accept other computer-related chips. The chips can be in almost any condition – badly bent, broken or missing pins, scratched, chipped or broken ceramic package, solder pulls, etc. Chips that would otherwise be of no interest to collectors because of their condition are perfectly acceptable for his purposes. The only exceptions are:
William will e-mail donors full-resolution pictures of the dies of their donated chips. William is planning to upgrade his photographic equipment in 2007, and re-take pictures of all of the chips in his possession. For this reason donated chips will not be returned. On the bright side, once he re-takes new pictures he will send new die pictures to all people who donated their chips. So, if you have any chips you'd like to donate to this ongoing effort to photographically document the hidden beauty of integrated circuit dies, please contact William Blair. He will gladly pay the postage required to mail your chips. Please keep in mind that he is not making this effort for monetary gain, but to reveal for everyone's enjoyment as many colorful die microscapes as possible. Update: William now has his own site IC Die Photography where you can find more microprocessor die pictures (link will open in a new window).
