Intel planning Pentium G6951

Intel posted part and model numbers for the second socket 1156 Pentium microprocessor - Pentium G6951. The processor has an OEM part number CM80616004593AF and boxed part BX80616G6951. Based on OEM and model numbers, we believe that the CPU will be in many ways similar to Pentium G6950, that is this dual-core processor will operate at 2.8 GHz, each core will have its own 256 KB level 2 cache, and both cores will share 3 MB level 3 cache. The processor should support Virtualization technology. We can only speculate that the difference between the G6950 and the G6951 will be in frequency of integrated graphics controller - the G6951 may have it clocked higher.
