Core i7-880 CPU specificationsAs was reported by other hardware news sites in February and March of this year, in the second quarter Intel is planning to launch faster version of Core i7 800-series processor - Core i7 880. This Lynnefield-based processor operates at 3.06 GHz, and includes standard features for i7-8xx line of microprocessors - 4 cores with HyperThreading enabled, 8 MB level 3 cache shared between all cores, socket 1156 package, and Turbo Boost technology. Turbo Boost feature on this CPU will go as high as 3.73 GHz. In many ways the processor is similar to not-yet-released Xeon X3480, except that the i7-880 will support "only" 16 GB of physical RAM, and won't work with ECC memory. Core i7-880 CPU will have tray/OEM part number BV80605002505AG, and box part BX80605I7880. Some engineering samples of this microprocessor have been seen in the wild with S-spec Q3M5. Production processors will have S-spec number SLBPS. As of today, May 17, CPU support for this microprocessor has been added into many Biostar motherboards, and into one ASUS motherboard (P7F7-E WS). The price of the Core i7-880 at launch is expected to be the same as current official price of Core i7-870 - $562. There are a few online stores that list the i7-880 microprocessors, and their prices are much higher than the expected price. For example, a number of online stores in Spain advertise tray version of the processor in the price range 530 Euro - 630 Euro ($649 - $772 USD). Here is one of these stores. Boxed version of the CPU can be found in Nivo South African online store for 6039 Rand, or $791 USD. Related News
