Pentium G6951 is close to launch

In April of this year we reported about new Clarkdale-based Pentium dual-core CPU with processor number G6951. In the past two days we found two notable references to this CPU, which makes us think that the G6951 is close to release date, and it could be launched next month together with other budget Celeron and Pentium microprocessors. Two days ago Pentium G6951 processor number, along with OEM and box part numbers, was added to Intel Pentium Processor for Desktop - Product order codes page on Intel website. Here is a screenshot of a relevant part of this page:

Processor's part number was also posted by one of Intel distributors, which only happens when the CPU is nearing the launch.

About Pentium Dual-Core G6951:

Pentium G6951 is a dual-core CPU with 2.8 GHz core frequency, 3 MB L3 cache, and support for key Westmere features such as SSE4 and Virtualization (VT-x) technology. Looking at these features only, the G6951 is indistinguishable from Pentium G6950. The differences between these models could be in the frequency of integrated graphics controller, as we suspect that the G6951 model will have higher clocked graphics. The Pentium G6951 will be sold as OEM and boxed processor, and could be launched as early as August 2010.
