AMD cuts prices on older desktop modelsWith the launch of three new desktop processors today, AMD also dropped prices on many older models. Majority of price cuts were insignificant, typically in the range from 3% to 10%. The price of one microprocessor, Phenom II X4 970, was increased by $5, or by about 3%. Among Athlon IIs, the biggest price drop was for Athlon II X3 450 CPU, that was superseded by faster 455 model today. This part is now 14% cheaper. The largest price reductions were for the most expensive microprocessors - six-core 1075T and 1090T. The price of Phenom II X6 1075T was reduced by $46 (23% price cut), and the Phenom II 1090T is now $60 (25%) cheaper. Full list of price changes is provided in the table below:
In addition to price cuts, AMD completely removed several processors from the price list. This is usually done for models that are discontinued, and are going to be discontinued in the very near future. These models are:
