Lenovo IdeaPad Y460p to feature Sandy Bridge CPUsOn December 9, Lenovo announced two laptops, IdeaPad Y460p and Y560p, and new IdeaCentre K330 desktop PC. Lenovo's press release pronounced that the laptops will feature 14" and 15.6" displays, Intel Core i7 processors, up to 8GB DDR3-1333 memory, and up to 750 GB HDD, but no specific details were given at the time. Days ago, more detailed specifications of the IdeaPad Y460p laptop emerged on Lenovo website. The specs supply information on all integrated components, as well as a list of supported microprocessors, which include upcoming Sandy Bridge mobile CPUs from Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 families. According to published specifications, Lenovo IdeaPad Y460p laptop will come with 14" widescreen display with resolution up to 1366 x 768 pixels, and with graphics up to Radeon HD 6550M. As was stated in the press release, the computer will support up to 8 GB of DDR3 RAM. The notebook will be shipped with a variety of hard disk drives, from 250 GB to 1 TB, as well as with optional 32 GB and 64 GB solid state drives. Optical drive options on this laptop include DVD/CD burner/reader and Blue-ray drive. Other "niceties" on the Y460p laptop are web camera, 6-in-1 card reader, multi-touch touchpad and touch-sensitive slidebar. IdeaPad 460P will support 802.11b/g/n, 1 GBit LAN, USB 2.0, HDMI and optional Bluetooth interfaces. The notebook will have a choice of Home Basic, Premium and Professional versions of Windows 7 operating system, will weight 4.85 lb (2.2 kg), and run up to 3.5 hours on one battery charge. In addition to Core i7 mobile processors, that were mentioned in the press release, IdeaPad Y460P notebook also supports Core i5 and Core i3 models. There are three supported Core i5 processors, i5-2410M, i5-2520M, and i5-2540M, operating at frequencies from 2.3 GHz to 2.6 GHz. These CPUs have two cores with HyperThreading, 256 KB L2 cache per each core, shared 3 MB L3 cache, and Turbo Boost feature. The only supported Core i3 model, i3-2310M, runs at 2.1 GHz, also has 2 cores with HT feature and 3 MB shared L3 cache, but lacks Turbo Boost Technology. Core i7 models on this laptop are dual-core i7-2620M, clocked at 2.7 GHz, and quad-core i7-2720QM, i7-2820QM, and i7-2920XM. Features of all these processors are presented in the table below:
