Intel launches new desktop and mobile CPUs

Earlier this week, at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Intel announced 2nd generation Core microprocessors, based on just introduced Sandy Bridge micro-architecture. Today, Intel officially launched these processors, as well as a few models built on older Nehalem and Core technology. Intel's price list was updated with prices and brief specifications of all new CPUs.

The price list includes anticipated Sandy Bridge desktop microprocessors from Core i5 and Core i7 families, and mobile Core i7 CPUs. New exciting features on Sandy Bridge parts are lower power at the same or better performance level, greatly improved integrated graphics, and Advanced Vector Extensions to x86 instruction set. All Core i7s have 4 cores, HyperThreading and Turbo Boost technologies, and large 6 or 8 MB level 3 cache, whereas Core i5 models lack HyperThreading feature. Desktop processors come in 4 different variations - standard-power models with no extra features, standard-power "K" models with unlocked multiplier, low-power "S" chips with 65 Watt Thermal Design Power, and ultra-low power "T" CPUs with TDP 45 Watt or lower.

In addition to desktop Core i5 / i7 microprocessors, Intel updated their Pentium line of dual-core CPUs with Pentium G6960. New mobile processors also include Celeron 925, and two ultra-low power models - dual-core Celeron U3600 and Celeron 763. Specifications and prices of released parts are provided in the table below:
