Intel drops Pentium E5800 price

Intel's pricelist was updated today with new price for Pentium E5800 microprocessor. Originally launched in the 4th quarter 2010, the E5800 was priced at $75. Today, the price for this model was reduced by 15% to $64. There was no change in prices for all other Intel CPUs.

Pentium E5800 is yet another Wolfdale-based budget CPU from E5xxx-series. Common features of this socket 775 processor are two cores with shared 2 MB level 2 cache, 800 MHz Front Side Bus frequency, and maximum power consumption 65 Watt. Besides basic Wolfdale features, like EM64T and SSE3/Supplemental SSE3 support, the CPU also incorporates Virtualization technology. Core frequency of the Pentium Dual-Core E5800 is 3.2 GHz, or 200 Mhz higher than of its predecessor, Pentium E5700. The processor was introduced at the end of November 2010, but only recently started to materialize in big retail stores. As an example, the first availability date for this model at Amazon was January 12. Before that the processor was available in a number of OEM systems. The CPU is currently offered in desktops from all major PC manufacturers: Dell ships Inspiron 560 and 560S desktop PCs, Lenovo sells IdeaCentre H410, Gateway offers E5800 in ZX4931-31e and SX2803-25e, just to name a few.

Intel Pentium E5800 may not be the last microprocessor from Pentium E5xxx series. CPU support lists for two motherboard manufacturers, ECS and ASRock, currently show Pentium E5900 model, clocked at 3.4 GHz. We don't know whether the E5900 processor will be released by Intel or not. If it will be released, it's going to have AT80571PG0962ML part number and SLGTF S-spec number.
