Intel cuts prices of Core i7 and Xeon 3600 processors

With the launch of new socket 1366 microprocessors today, Intel also cut prices on several Core i7 and Xeon models. The price of Core i7-970 and Xeon W3670 CPUs was reduced from $885 to $583, or by 1/3. It's interesting to note that the Core i7-970 and W3670 are desktop and servers variations of the same processor.

Xeon W3565 and Core i7-960 parts also have identical specifications, but target different market segments. Their price was cut almost in half, from $562 to $294. After the price drop, Core i7-960 costs the same as Core i7-950, Core i7-2600 and Core i7-870.
