Intel server processors to be discontinued in 2012Last week Intel published Product Discontinuance Notification (PDN) for several Itanium processors with Montvale core. According to the PDN, Itanium 9110N, 9120N, 9130M, 9140N, 9140M, 9150N and 9150M models will be available for order until August 26 2011, whereas their last shipment date is February 7, 2014. In addition to the above-mentioned 9100-series SKUs, this year Intel will discontinue selected models from Expandable and Entry-level Xeon market segments. Last September, PDNs were published for L3110, L3360, X3360, X3370, and X3380 processors from Xeon 3100 and 3300 families. The last order date, of End-of-Life date, for these CPUs is March 2011. In the second quarter 2011, Intel will issue PDNs for three other entry-level models, namely E3110, E3120 and X3330. EOL date for these Xeons will be in the 4th quarter 2011. In March, Intel will retire a handful of Xeon 7000 microprocessors with Dunnington and Tigerton cores: E7220, L7345, E7310, L7445, L4555, E7420, E7430, E7440 and X7460. The last order date for the microprocessors will be in the third quarter of this year. Related News
