Intel discontinues several Core i5 and i7 Mobile CPUsToday Intel published Product Discontinuation Notifications (PDN) for Westmere Core i7 and Core i5 microprocessors from Calpella platform. According to these documents, the following 9 standard-, low- and ultra-low voltage consumer models will be end-of-lifed in the 4th quarter of this year:
Core i5-520M, i5-540M and i7-620M were produced in both micro-PGA and micro-BGA packages, and the PDNs apply to both packages. Last order date for all discontinued CPUs is October 28, 2011. Boxed processors will be shipped while supplies last, and the last shipment date for tray parts is April 6, 2012. micro-PGA versions of Core i5-520M and Core i7-620M will still be available as embedded CPUs. All retired Core i5s and Core i7s were introduced in January 2010, and the Mobile Celeron SU2300 was launched in September 2009. Comments: 0
