Prices of soon to be released Intel Core i7 mobile CPUs

Last month we published a story with details on four Core i7 Sandy Bridge microprocessors, coming in the 4th quarter of this year. The processors are dual-core Core i7-2640M, and three quad-core models, Core i7-2960XM Extreme Edition, Core i7-2860QM and i7-2760QM. As we recently learned, the CPUs will be introduced in the second week of September, that is from September 4 to September 10. The new processors will replace Core i7-2620M, i7-2920XM, i7-2820QM and i7-2720QM, released in January of this year. Prices of new chips will be identical to introduction prices of i7-2x20M/QM/XM SKUs.

Core i7-2960XM Extreme quad-core microprocessor runs at 2.7 GHz, or 200 MHz higher than the i7-2920XM. The CPU has unlocked clock multiplier, 3.7 GHz Turbo frequency, 8 MB L3 cache, and it fits 55 Watt thermal envelope. Priced at $1096, this model is going be the most expensive from all Sandy Bridge mobile processors.

Two other quad-core models, Core i7-2860QM and i7-2760QM, are clocked at 3.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz, and have 8 MB and 6 MB L3 cache respectively. The CPUs feature lower 45 Watt TDP, and their prices are cheaper too, $568 for the 2860QM and $378 for the 2760QM.

Intel i7-2640M has 2 CPU cores, 2.8 GHz clock speed and 4 MB L3 cache. This model comes with even lower 35 Watt TDP. Official price for the i7-2640M will be $346.

All soon to be released Core i7 processors feature HD 3000 graphics, and support the most advanced Sandy Bridge features. More detailed specifications of these Core i7 CPUs are provided in the table below:
