Intel Core i7-2670QM coming this fall

Last month we published details on 4 new Core i7 mobile microprocessors, coming in September. One of these models, Core i7-2640M, will have two CPU cores, whereas three remaining Core i7s will have 4 cores. According to specifications of notebooks, spotted on ASUS, Dell and Fujitsu websites, there will be another quad-core mobile processor, Core i7-2670QM. We also found notebook availability information, that suggests that this model will be launched before October.

Intel Core i7-2670QM operates at 2.2 GHz, or 200 MHz faster than i7-2630QM chip, introduced in January. The new CPU incorporates Turbo Boost feature, that is also clocked 200 Mhz higher than on the 2630QM, at 3.1 GHz. The processor has 6 MB L3 cache, and it will be available in socket G2-compatible package. Other i7-2670QM characteristics are not known at this time, although it's likely that the SKU will have 45 Watt TDP, and the same set of technologies as the 2630QM. OEM i7-2670QM will be shipped in Fujitsu LIFEBOOK NH751, and the latest End User Reference Price List (PDF file) specifies October 4 availability date for the notebook:

The document shows a few other products with the same date, including upcoming Core i7-2640M. As we already know, that dual-core microprocessor will be launched in September. We believe that Core i7-2670QM will be available at the same time. The same is true for dual-core Core i5-2430M, that was sighted as early as May of this year, but was not released so far.

In addition to three unreleased CPUs, Fujitsu LIFEBOOK NH571 will be also offered with production microprocessors from Core i3, i5 and i7 families. The laptop will include 17.3" display, NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M graphics, 2 or 4 MB of DDR3-1333 RAM, upgradeable up to 8 MB, and several optical drive and wireless communications options.

Dell listed Core i7-2670QM in technical specs of Inspiron 15R notebook. The processor is also referenced in the specs of ASUS N45SF and K53SC notebooks.
