Intel Pentium B960 CPU is in the works

Less than a week remains for the next refresh of Intel mobile processor line-up. So far we confirmed release of Celeron B840 and 4 Core i7 models. There are also several additional CPUs in the "likely to launch" list, that includes Core i3-2350M, Core i5-2430M, i5-2435M, Core i7-2670QM and i7-2675QM. Today we came across yet another Intel mobile processor, that may be introduced this month. Not yet released Intel Pentium B960 was spotted in specifications of Acer Aspire 3750Z and HP Pavilion g6-1213tx notebooks.

Intel Pentium B960 is an incremental upgrade to Pentium B950 CPU. The B960 operates 100 MHz faster than the B950, i.e. at 2.2 GHz. Remaining CPU features are identical to other B900-series Pentiums: 2 cores with shared 2 MB L3 cache, and 35Watt Thermal Design Power. Mainstream Pentium mobile microprocessors support SSE4, Intel 64 and Virtualization, and they are manufactured in socket G2-compatible package. We don't expect the Pentium B960 to be different in that regard.

In somewhat related news, Intel published S-Spec and box part numbers for two upcoming quad-core Core i7 models:

Part and S-spec numbers of Core i7-2760QM and i7-2860QM processors

The Core i7-2760QM has SR02W S-Spec number, and BX80627I72760QM box part number, and the Core i7-2860QM has SR02X and BX80627I72860QM S-Spec and box part numbers.
