Intel prepares Celeron G460 CPUCeleron dual-core family was the last Intel family, migrated to Sandy Bridge microarchitecture. Despite the fact, that the microarchitecture was introduced in January, the first Sandy Bridge Celerons were released only in September. Initial launch included single-core G440, and dual-core G530, G30T and G540 SKUs. Yesterday's update of Intel Material Declaration Data Sheets (MDDS) database revealed new member of Celeron family with processor number G460:
According to MDDS database, the new processor will have SR0GR S-spec, and BX80623G460 and BXC80623G460 box part numbers. As usual with Intel boxed CPUs, processor number, in this case G460, is a part of the box number. We believe that the G460 model will have only one CPU core. The processor is already listed by a few stores in Europe, and they claim that the G460 has 1.7 GHz clock speed and 1.5 MB size of L2 cache. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm these specifications from other sources. Compared to previously launched single-core Celeron G440, the G460 has 100 MHz higher frequency and 50% larger L2 cache, therefore it seems plausible that the new model received processor number G460, and not G450. Launch date of new processor is not known. Related News (newer articles):
