Intel Ivy Bridge processors released todayLast Monday Intel announced Ivy Bridge microprocessors, and disclosed initial lineup for desktop and mobile markets. The same day the announcement was followed by numerous reviews and benchmarks, published by hardware news site. Today is another big day: the processors are now officially released, and they are hitting retail. Also today, Intel added new SKUs to official pricelist:
Interestingly enough, the pricelist shows older prices of desktop CPUs, that we reported last December, and not newer and lower prices, that were presented in Ivy Bridge announcement press kit. Other than that, there are no surprises in the pricelist. The document includes the same lineup of desktop and mobile SKUs, as we reported before: Desktop Core i7-3770, i7-3770K, i7-3770S and i7-3770T. All models have 4 CPU cores, Hyper-Threading and 8 MB L3 cache. The CPUs are clocked from 2.5 GHz to 3.5 GHz. Desktop Core i5-3570K, i5-3570T, i5-3550, i5-3550S, i5-3450 and i5-3450S. The parts have 4 cores, 6 MB L3 cache and they lack Hyper-threading feature. Clock speeds for Core i5s range from 2.3 GHz to 3.4 GHz. Mobile Core i7-3920XM, i7-3820QM and i7-3720QM. These are quad-core microprocessors, that can execute 8 threads at once. They come with 6 MB or 8 MB L3 cache, and 2.9 GHz, 2.7 GHz and 2.6 GHz stock frequencies. Please see below for details on these SKUs, along with their prices. We suspect that announcement prices are correct, but we haven't confirmed that yet:
At this time the processors already appeared in several online stores, including MWave, Newegg and Amazon. Even the cheapest retail prices for Ivy Bridge processors are about $25 - $40 higher that official (announcement) prices. As an example, Amazon offers Core i7-3770K for $349.99, Core i7-3770 for $319.99, and Core i5-3570K for $249.99 (currently out of stock), all three with free shipping. If you're in US then your local Microcenter has the best deal on these CPUs: $289.99 for i7-3770K, $259.99 for i7-3770, $189.99 for Core i5-3570K, and $159.99 for Core i5-3450.
