Specifications of Intel Core i5-3210M CPU

As you may already know, dual-core Ivy Bridge microprocessors will be released in less than three weeks. Last week we reported about 5 different mobile models, that will be available on June 3. Computerbase.de spotted another Ivy Bridge mobile SKU in specifications of several upcoming Acer, MCI and Samsung laptops. Newly discovered chip has processor number i5-3210M, and it may also launch in June.

Like all other Core i5 mobile processors, Intel i5-3210M is a dual-core CPU with 3 MB L3 cache, and Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost technologies enabled. According to Computerbase.de, the i5-3210M has 2.5 GHz base and possibly 3.1 GHz Turbo Boost frequencies, on-chip HD 4000 graphics clocked at 650 MHz, and 35 Watt TDP. We were able to confirm these details from our sources. Additionally, we learned that the maximum GPU frequency on this chip is 1.1 GHz. This SKU does not have Trusted Execution and Vpro features, however it will support AES instructions. The CPU will be produced in two different packages: micro-PGA and micro-BGA, and the i5-3210M version in micro-BGA package will also support VT-d virtualization. The processor is currently available for preorder in US for $234. We found several notebooks, that will be offered with the i5-3210M: ASUS G55VW, HP ENVY 15 and ENVY 17, and Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH532. The CPU should be launched in the second quarter, presumably on June 3.

Don't order it. I have it in an HP Pavilion m6 1045dx and it is painfully slow.

Just because your laptop is slow doesn't mean processing is slow. Its the I/O mainly the Hard Disk. Probably your HP pavilion has a shitty HDD.

I'm not necessarily an Intel fan but I'd have to agree that your laptop does have a slow hdd.

This would definitely be one reason it is "painfully slow".

Yeah... I have this CPU in my Mac Mini, and it's pretty speedy with both OS X and 7.

All the crtapware HP_ puts on their computers, coupled with the slow 5400 rpm HDD, slows their computers to a crawl. No matter how fast the processor is.
