VIA introduces fanless ARTiGO A1200 PC kit with Eden X2 CPU

Yesterday VIA Technologies announced ultra-compact PC kit, dubbed ARTiGO A1200. The new kit has fanless design, and it is suited for a number of home and small office applications, such as home server, media server and security. With a size of 243mm x 124mm x 30mm (9.6" x 4.9" x 1.2"), and weight 1.2 Kg (2.64lb without HDD), the A1200 is small and light enough to be installed directly on the back of a monitor.

VIA ARTiGO A1200 is powered by Eden X2 dual-core processor with 1 GHz clock frequency, 800 MHz Front Side Bus speed and 2 MB L2 cache. The PC also employs Chrome9 HD video processor, that provides 2D/3D video capabilities, as well as video decoding acceleration of such formats as MPEG2, DivX and H.264. The A1200 supports up to 4 GB of DDR3-1066 memory, that works in single-channel mode. The computer has VGA and HDMI interfaces, and may utilize up to 2 displays. Furthermore, the ARTiGO A1200 has dual Gigabit LAN interface, 4 USB 2.0 ports and 2 Serial ports. Other PC kit features include HD Audio, optional WiFi and one optional USB 3.0 port.

The PC kit supports Windows 7, Windows Embedded Standard 2009 and Linux operating systems. The VIA ARTiGO A1200 is currently available for purchase in the US VIA Store, and from E-ITX store. The price of base ARTiGO A1200 unit without memory and disk drive in E-ITX store is $309.95.
