AMD launches FX-4130, cuts prices of desktop CPUsOn Friday we reported on new FX-4130 microprocessors, as well as price cuts across all A-Series, FX-Series and Phenom II families, coming on August 27. Starting today, A-Series Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) are 15.7% cheaper on average. The prices of two quad-core chips, A6-3650 and A6-3670K, were slashed by as much as 19% and 20% respectively. FX-Series microprocessors are less expensive now by about 12%, and older generation of AMD desktop CPUs from Phenom II family received 5.5% price reduction on average. Most notable price drops here are 23% for Phenom II X4 955, and 21% for Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition CPUs. With prices like $81 and $91, these are perhaps the best bargains in the current AMD desktop lineup. Full list of prices is published further below. It is identical to the list that we posted last Friday. Also, today AMD launched FX-4130 microprocessor for socket AM3+. New SKU is built on 32nm process, and it utilizes "Bulldozer" microarchitecture. The chip packs two modules (4 CPU cores) in the package, along with 4 MB L3 cache and DDR3 memory controller. Smaller size of L3 cache suggests that it's a "harvested" part, that is a different model, that had half of its last level cache disabled due to defects. The FX-4130 operates at 3.8 GHz, or up to 3.9 GHz when Turbo Core feature is active. The CPU comes with standard "Bulldozer" features: AMD-V virtualization, and SSE4 / AES / AVX instructions. The processor has 125 Watt TDP. Below is a list of new official prices of AMD A-Series, FX-Series and Phenom II X2/X4/X6 CPUs, that became effective on August 27. The list also includes old pricing, and the difference between the old and new prices:
