Specifications of upcoming AMD Richland APUsQuite a few new details on upcoming AMD "Richland" Accelerated Processing Units have surfaced this week. First, Fudzilla posted partial specifications of A4-6300 and A6-6400K dual-core parts. It was followed by a rumor on additional A8- and A10-Series Richland APUs, that revealed their TDP and the type of integrated graphics. Finally, VR-Zone Chinese published complete Richland lineup specifications, including CPU and GPU clock speeds. Model numbers of AMD processors with Richland core will stay mostly the same, except that the series name will change from Ax-5xxx to Ax-6xxx. As such, AMD A10-6800K will succeed A10-5800K, A8-6600K is going to replace A8-5600K, and so on. The number of cores and the size of L2 cache on all APUs will not change. A10- and A8-Series will have 4 cores and 4 MB L2 cache, and A4- and A6-Series will be limited to 2 cores and 1 MB L2 cache. Exactly like with "Trinity" parts, two quad-cores and one dual-core SKU will be released as Black Editions, featuring unlocked clock multiplier. Unlocked chips, identified by "K" suffix in their model number, will run at higher stock and Turbo Core frequencies than locked counterparts, and, in the case of quad-core APUs, will also have higher 100 Watt TDP. The rest of the lineup will be rated at 65 Watt. All processors will run at 3.5 GHz or higher clocks, while flagship A10-6800K will operate at 4.1 GHz stock speed. On average, the CPUs will be 300 MHz faster than their predecessors, which is true for both base and maximum Turbo Core frequencies. As a result, we can expect that Richland APUs will have about 8% better performance than Trinity. The integrated GPU on new products will be clocked from 37 MHz to 84 MHz higher depending on SKU. Based on published part numbers, the 6xxx series processors will have a new stepping, although at this time there is no information whether that stepping will include any additional performance tweaks besides ability to reach higher clock speeds, or not. The table below shows CPU and GPU clock improvements, broken down by model number:
