Thank you diabolikoverclock...saved me some trouble
Thank you CPU World. If i hadn't seen this post from diabolikoverclock i would have mistakenly jumped on a mobile P4 rather than a P4-M processor for a desktop w/ locked BIOS. After seem that I searched elsewhere and found that same info about a desktop locking it at 12x multiplier and therefore if you can't raise the FSB it's stuck at whatever the MOBO detects it at. but NOT anywhere close to 3.06Ghz
whats strange on my motherboard this cpu works correctly and i read that stepping D0 works on chipset 875 so seems fine .
upgradeing from celeron 2.66
Will my laptop recognise the cpu at 3.06 if I upgrade from a 2.66 Celeron?
Thanks
Hi, usually this processors works in desktop motherboard only at 12X multiplier..
The desktops MB cant see the speedstep and the cpu work LOCKED at the minumum value 133x12=1600mhz
You can overclock it at 200x12at2.400MHZ or 250x12at3.000MHZ
In default 200x12 it results a P4 desktop 2400-800HT
and work at very low temperature max 33°C
In minim setting 133x12 it can work without fan!
cpu
can i use this cpu in a "normale" motherboard.
I want to put this cpu in a MSI 875 motherboard. Socket 478
thanks for the advise
Ben
