Post subject: Pics of chips in their original sockets
Here are pics of my latest project--displaying some chips in their original sockets.
(Sorry for the poor resolution-I loose resolution when I try to resize pics to the 250K max. size allowed-any tips ?)
I got all these chips
free
from discarded PCs that I asked for on my town's local "Freecycle.com" postings.
After de-soldering some Gold ram chips from a telecom board, that I bought recently on eBay, I wondered if I could remove CPU sockets with the same heatgun process.
YES, it worked!
Here is the result--a different way to show off some CPUs while preserving and recycling the sockets.
By the way, What is a
Socket 2
, the blue one? It isn't listed in the "sockets" section of CPU-WORLD...tsk,,tsk.
What do you think?
