And thus is the complexity of defining the fastest processor....for PCs or servers, clock speed, MIPS or FLOPS?
interesting the POWER7 is built using 45nm |

dude, the clockspeed is not what ever it says per core timesed by the number of cores, that is stupid
I think we can all agree that atm the best CPU is that of the intel i7 975 extreeme, whack a good liquid cooling system on 'er and overclock it and you can get upto about 6.5ghz if you try hard enough, b careful tho |

I M B? Never heard of it!
Maybe its IBM in camouflage lol
But there`s an old player with an
amazing processor:
Sun T2+ (Niagara 2+)
1,4GHz (okok, not the highest clockrate)
BUT 8 core, 8x multithreading,
blasting fp-performance.
I think it`s in a similar performance range like
the higher clocked IBM PowerXCell 8i! |

IMB has now released a new processor that is 4.7Ghz. That is only ONE processor. It's now the worlds fastest processor. 4.7Ghz x 2 = 9.4Ghz. I honestly don't know what someone would need that kind of speed for. |
