Hello all,

I want to change my Core Solo processor (currently on a HP dv2109nr laptop). It uses a M-type socket and I was wondering if it were possible to upgrade it to a Core 2 Duo processor? If so, which type should I consider?

I have no knowledge of this procedure so your help would be VERY appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

first thing i would do is to go to your hp support page and find a service manual, where, to be particular in FRU# list you can find all possible configurations for that particular model -this way you will know what processors manufacturer is installing on this mobo. If there is no information about cpus, then it will be trial and error, but i am sure this laptop would support duo/dual processors, best bet would be to have same FSB speed/ same socket ( by the way whats socket -M? Wink i know PPGA478/479 ...nEver heard of sOKET -M (my bet, there is one just found on wiki, corrected later)
this must be your present cpu:
http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27243
it has tdp of 31Watt, keep in mind that if you greatly exeed TDP of you newly installed cpu - you might experience some troubles...
