Do you have funny story about your car ?
Today I have repaired heating in my mom's car - Opel Corsa A '91. There was only cool air before. When was a moist day all windows were fogged and frozen from inside. That was funny to scratching ice from inside _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Ha ha ha its funny until you have to change the heater core, I just had to do that to my truck, it took me 9 hours of non stop work, I had to remove the entire dash all the way down to the fire wall and then replace it all. But it saved me about $600 by doing it myself and i can spend that on some nice chips _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." A.E. |

Replacing heatcore isn't easy and quickly in most cars. In some cases easier is change whole engine
BUT like in MasterCard advertisement : new heater core - 100 USD, 9 hours of hard work - 150USD, smile on your face when your alone job was done successfuly - priceless ... _________________ Visit ABC CPU - Virtual CPU Museum. |

Yep its like they always say...... If you want it done right you have to do it yourself.
The funny part was driving home at night when it went bad, and all that steam on the windshield only left me a space of 3 or 4 inches round to see thru for the whole drive home, about 35 miles. I had to go slow and hope I didnt hit anyone or anything heh heh heh And the more i tried to wipe it off the worse it got because of the coolant. _________________ "The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once." Drove like 100 km without wipers in a rainy day.
Awsome, it was like having an impressionist, or Van Gogh painting only for me to see!
80% of the trip was on highway @ 120 km/h, fast enough to have some wind wiping... It happened during day, at night I would be dead by now.
Repair cost 250€. |

i used to have mitsubishi galant 1991 model back in about 2000, i remember my alternator died (actually in period of time of 1 year i have changed 3 alternators...design flaw...) anyways, according to instructions i had to take radiator out before i could change alternator - rediculous huh?! so... iwas at my friends house in buffolo NY and it was like end of november with lots of snow etc... and i had to leave to canada for a few a days then come back and drive back to wisconsin same day, so i did not have time to take radiator out with the cables and hoses... what i have done instead i took OIL FILTER OUT from the bottom and then i was able to change alternator (had to add oil later but hey, its not that hard as taking whole radiator out with bells...) anyways second funny part is when i got oil filter out , just happened that filter slipped out of my hand and i got oil leaking on my face and hair etc... my bro and friends were laughing very loud when i got out from the car, it was indeed funny - took me a good hour just to clean my hair off an oil... ( of course it was not hot, car was shot, because of a bad alternator) we went to a restaurant later and i was smelling like bad ass mech dude... so all evening all kind of dirty jokes were going on.
Anyways this is my story, i will remember it till the end of days. _________________ its here. |
