Lately I see more and more crazy prices for rare/ES/unusual chips on eBay:

$71 for fake Intel? I need to start selling fake Pentiums - I have a bunch of those...

Yep, I suspect it's a fake Intel 486, so I didn't bid on that one.
But I really like the AMD 486DX-33. |

It is a fake Intel. I was interested in it up to about $15. But not crazy price.. you have to look at the buyer though. There are about two-three buyers on ebay who will spend BIG MONEY.. just be glad they ddint find the mech samples earlier. ( even they were a bit expensive I thought ).
Vinicio, I'd like to see you fake intels. Do you have any pictures? |

I have some too.. I took one apart the other day to see what was inside ( the golden ones ). Very poor quality. I cant even be bothered to test them.. I think fueling the fake cpu market is a very bad idea. I am only interested from the curiosity point of view.. but how long will it be before someone starts faking cpus just for collectors ??? ( if it hasnt happened already ) |

Light defects are seen on the letter L and on the number 5.

The one on ebay is a really bad fake :
- bad irregular and light white print
- black incription not graved (printed)
- die size too little to be Intel 486DX-33
- No Sspec on the die cap
- date code in AMD form : YYMM
How can somebody spend 70$ for such a bad fake ???
Zizmo, if you're reading me, please tell me why... |
