Does anyone know what the markings on the ceramic on the K6 family of processors mean? I refer specifically to the makrings at the bottom edge of the top of the processor such as "26050", "26351" etc, and the "N" "I", "K" or what looks like a loudspeaker symbol, all of which could be in gold, black or just etched/engraved in the ceramic.

I note that the majority of mine have "26351" on them, but some have different numbers. Where there are two processors which appear the same (part number, revision, etc) but differ only in date code and this marking, does the marking indicate any kind of difference between the two chips?

They refer to the packaging type used for the CPU, the exact signification is lost somewhere in an AMD datasheet I guess.

If it's the packaging type, I can't figure out why two otherwise identical chips, same packge, same part number and revision, have different numbers on the ceramic. Maybe I shouldn't be looking to collect that sort of variation Smile

Thanks anyway, I'll put that down as lost in time Smile

I thought it was the core they used? But I really have no idea.
