I have a Pentium D 805 LGA775 cpu. Assembled it about a month ago. When I look at the cpu, windows and tuneup utilities identifies it as a socket 478.

I know for a fact I have an LGA 775. So why does my pc think it is only a socket 478. Even the L2 cache is read wrong. My cpu has 2x1mb of L2. But windows only reads it as having 1mb of L2.

Why is my processor being identified wrong???

I have Pentium D 805, LGA 775
PC Chips P13G+ (v1.0) LGA 775 MoBo.

Do I need to adjust something in the Bios or set a jumper??? How do I get my cpu to identify itself properly??

Let us know.

Maybe a bios update? Or a Win patch? Windows is known only to 50% of its extent, leaving half of it obscure... lol

when i run that program, everything reads properly, Proper L2 and it reads as LGA775.

Maybe Tuneup utilities cpu identifier is wrong.

Is this cpu Z program usually spot on accurate?

If so then I'm worrying for nothing. Tuneup must be reading it wrong.

Well, it reads cpu specs for what the cpu is.

Maybe you need a program update? Check supported cpus according to your utilities version.

Vista often ID's a LGA775 P4 EE as a Socket 423 lol

CPU-Z has ALWAYS worked right for me.
